Recently, the Nature Index website released its latest institutional rankings, based on data collected from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026.

In this edition of the rankings, nine of the world's top 10 universities are from China. Zhejiang University ranked first globally with a total article share of 1,250.06. Harvard University placed second worldwide, making it the only non-Chinese institution in the global top 10. Tsinghua University ranked third, while Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the University of Science and Technology of China, Peking University, the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Nanjing University, Sun Yat-sen University, and Fudan University also secured places among the world's top 10 universities.

Among the top 100 universities worldwide, 54 are from China and 28 are from the United States. Overall, 4,563 universities were included in the rankings, with 1,252 institutions from China, 931 from the United States, 669 from India, and 332 from Japan. The results highlight the strong presence and growing dominance of Asian universities in global research output.
